Benjamin A. Vaughn

Benjamin Vaughn, a Forsyth, Georgia native,  graduated from Stratford Academy in 2004. He received a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from Auburn University in 2008 where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.  He graduated Cum Laude from Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law in 2012. He was sworn into the Georgia Bar on November 2, 2012.

Ben specializes in civil litigation with an emphasis on ad valorem tax litigation, handles real estate sales and acquisitions, wills and estate planning and administration, as well as criminal defense and domestic relations. He also serves as the Monroe County Attorney and the Attorney for the Monroe County Board of Education.  In October of 2013, less than a year after being admitted to the Georgia State Bar, Ben argued the case of Newton Timber Co., L.L.L.P. v. Monroe County Board of Tax Assessors before the Georgia Supreme Court. He won a unanimous decision in Monroe County’s favor on all issues, a highlight in his career.

In January of 2016 Ben joined the Board of Directors of the Bank of Dudley. He represents the fifth generation of the Hogan’s family commitment to community banking in Laurens County.

Ben is an alum of GeorgiaForward’s Young Gamechangers class of 2013/2014, a leadership action program that focused on community and economic development in Dublin/Laurens County. He is a 2016 graduate of the Georgia Academy for Economic Development. In July of 2016, Ben was inducted as the President of the Forsyth-Monroe County Rotary Club. He is also a past president of the Towaliga Bar Association where he currently serves as treasurer and a member of the Board of Directors of Meals on Wheels of Middle Georgia.

Ben is married to the former Kris Hattaway of Macon. They live in Monroe County with their two daughters. The Vaughns are active in the Middle Georgia Community through volunteer organizations and are members of Mulberry Street United Methodist Church. Ben is an avid outdoorsman with a passion for duck hunting and fishing. He also enjoys spending time on his family’s black angus cattle farm – Vaughn Farms.
